Outsourced

8:17 PM 1 Comments
NBC is set to air a show about Indian companies, called  "Outsourced".  Its content is hilarious and subsequently a kind of racist program.  Watch this trailer first and what you feel of it?  Click here.

According to NBC's official description, the set-in-India workplace series "centers on the all-American company Mid America Novelties whose call center has suddenly been outsourced to India and a manager, played by Ben Rappaport, is being transferred to India to run the operation.” Supposedly, the socio-economic aspects of exporting American jobs to India are not expected to be front and center story-wise. Instead, the series is billed as “the Midwest meets the exotic East in a hilarious culture clash”.

When you watch this preview, you can see first the call center manager drinks coffee in a toilet closet shaped mug.  What these Americans thinks?  Indians are eating their shit and drinking what they piss ?  It's really cruel to show like this.  If they don't like Indians, just leave it.  It's harassing in some other way.  Second, when the introduce session, miss-pronouncing the name of "Manmeit", on the contrary, they too miss-pronounce his name as Toad ( character name is Todd).  Another session, when he spells the letters, the caller suspecting the call reached to India and shouting over the phone to agent.  This guy says, it's not India, but in Detroit and it's the place of black people.  Again taking it as a racist act.

What do you think, if a show like this aired in India and by making a American or American company as a comedy object?  Of course,  they won't be sit relax and enjoy it.  It will spread all over the medias and Obama may ask India to stop showing such things.  If not stopping, they may raise obstruction against India, until they seize this show.  That means, they can do anything against others, but others can't do.  It's hilarious.

There are lot of anti-India movements in America now.  These kind of shows just boost them up.  Some shows, just take it as fun but why don't they think out of the box or think from the other side?  Will they take it as just fun only, if any other nation do such things?  They won't.  With the name of anti-terrorism, these Americans done a body scanning of ex-Indian president, which shouldn't be allowed at all.  But they crossed all the limits and done those things.  I read some interesting quotes from Americans that, those days parents tell if you are not eating " Look at Asian countries, there are lot of people starving for food.  Don't waste and eat".  Now-a-days these parents tells "if you don't study, Indians will take over you".  They are still fearing Indians because with the knowledge, ability and many other things Indians are best than anybody.  So the fear about them had started.  But it shouldn't be destroyed by using these kind of cheap shows.

Whatever they do, nothing will affect the business of India, as God with them.  But, it is shameful to the Indian community those are working and living in America to silently support these kind of shows.  I am not knowing the law side of these things.  But they must have the right to object against these kind of things.  They are not doing it; so it ashamed.   There are lot of comments are going around about this show.  Most are saying extremely offensive.  But none taking any finger movement to stop this.  Too bad.

Parenting - a stage of life

2:37 PM 0 Comments
I have had a talk with one of my friend recently, who is father of 2 small kids.   At present they living in one of the English country and planning to move to an Asian country.  I was surprised about his decision and was asking, why like that?  His answer was revealing real worry of parent, who will be most concern about their children.  Present culture of English require, a boy need girl friend and girl need boy friend.  If you don't have that, people think that you came from some different planet.  Also premature sexual habits are increasing rapidly in this culture, which will be more troublesome for a parent as well as child.  Another fact he was saying, parents can't punish their own children.  If they punish and came to know by somebody, then social service will take them to their care home and wont give back to parents.  I was surprised with this statement.  As far as I know, most English countries protect people's privacy very strictly.  But a parent doesn't have right to punish his/her children?  Reasonable punishing is must at growing stage for good reason, when advising fails.  It will develop / lead a good character.  If parent doesn't have right for that, then why they trying to protect the privacy?

Having children can be very rewarding. You will share beautiful moments, laughter and love. But raising children in today's world is full of pitfalls and can leave parents over-stressed and just plain exhausted.  One of the hardest things about parenting is agreeing on how to be parents. You and your spouse have to agree to a reasonable degree on many issues, most especially discipline. Without such agreement life can be very confusing and inconsistent for the children.  Grandparents can offer enormous value by sharing the wisdom of long experience. After all, they have raised children before and most parents will want to believe they did a good job. For such advice to be valuable, however, it has to be delivered at the right time and in the right way.

The most excited stage of a married couple is right from the pregnancy stage till the growing up stage of their child.  When real parenting starts, it is a mixture of excitement as well as anxiety.  Then anxiety stage grows over excitement.  It starts right from the character development and never ends.  People says, if parents have good moral, children can adopt it.  But when you look at the surroundings, where the children grows it actually convince them than their parents.  Because, when child feels, he/she became grown up they start imitating somebody else than their parent.  Some picks good character, some pick bad.   It depends on the society and culture, where they grow up.

When you look at our present world, there are no morals we can find.  The world is now running behind something else, which they themselves don't know.  Those good old days, both parents were part of the character build of a child.  Now, either of them at a time, but can't be together as they both meet at very rare time.  Parents running to build up the family and children, and the lack of time to give attention to their children making big differences in the characture build.  If you were 10% naughty at your child hood stage, then your child will be 70% naughty.  If you grasped things slowly, the new generation grasps it faster than anybody.  Regular fights/quarrels of parent in front of their children will make them to think that, their parents don't have time to take care of them.  We says, be careful on our words, once thrown, cannot take it back and may bite back you.  The same applies at the growing stage of child.  They adopts your words.  Just think, how children learning the language.  Learning of mother-tongue is a data transfer from  mouth to mouth.

Patience, that is the most important character for a parent need.  It must need till the end of your life.  Second, spend more time with your children and make it to be together with( if possible ) and answer your child's questions carefully.  Growing stage of a children have lots of questions in their mind.  They are anxious to know everything what they see, feel etc.  When you ready and open mind to talk to them, they are more happy to approach you.  If you are close minded when they approach with questions and you show uncomfortable, then they find someone else, which may then decide take control of their life.  Like a good friend, always be ready to answer their queries and help them when they stuck.  Ask them to learn, how they going with their life.  At the same stage, you must make them understand that how you grow up and what was the circumstances.  They must know the difficulties and troubles you faced to grow them up.  I believe, that will keep them driving that, "my parent suffering a lot to place me at good level and I shouldn't disappoint them".

In short, parenting is a precious stage of a person, who leads a family life.  Good communication and patience is necessary to move forward.

Eid Mubarak - memory of Ijan

9:53 PM 0 Comments
Another Eid eve has gone.  I still re-collect the lively moments of my good friend Roshizal Ibrahim ( Ijan ).  He was active, jovial and friendly with everybody.  I used to advise him for his heavy smoking habit.  He always smiles at me, when I advise.  Whatever obstacles, his approach to them was very cool minded and with a smile.  Every time Hari Raya ( Ramzan ) Open House, he used to invite me and I used to be with him.  In fact, I never imagined it would have been our last open house.  He was the coordinator of our badminton team.  Very good and active player.  I was enjoying with them to play.  Every week he arrange at least one game for everybody.  The day before Michael Jackson passed away, was his last game with us.  They all played till early morning 2:00am.  He went off to home and slept off; never woke up.  It was shocking news to all of us.  I still wanted to re-collect him at this Ramzan time.  Ijan, you live in my heart forever.

US Senator calls Infosys 'chop shop'

6:14 AM 0 Comments
US Senator criticized Infosys as "chop shop".  It is not only affected to Infosys, but all Indian born companies, who are working in US.  When US started suffering they are started blaming to Indians.  He said all high paid jobs are outsourced to India with lower wages.  So, the lazy US people are not getting jobs.  There is new reason.

First blaming starts by George Bush.  He was saying "Indians are consuming more  foods".  Second blaming was by Barak Obama.  In his statement it was "Indians buying more vehicle, so the fuel price going high".  The actual stealing work starts by Americans.  Brilliant Indians create some good things, technologies etc, they took patent over it and steal.  The very best example is "hotmail".  Though they bought over it, the brain behind it was a great Indian.  Why did they bought over it?  Why can't they create same kind instead of bought over?  They even stole the patents of our traditional items like ginger, pepper and many more.

Looks like they don't like India at all.  If they don't like India or Indians, we will challenge them to sack all Indians who works in America and who work for America.  Then will see, how Americans going to survive.  They cannot survive themselves, especially without an Indian.  Even at their best space research organization, "NASA", flooded with many brilliant Indian scientists.  By virtue, how Gulf countries grown to their current progressive state with all effort of Indians, the same way America too came up.  Don't forget the past.  If you forget the past, then you broken your base / existence.

Cars that detect alcohol intoxication and fatigue

3:08 AM 0 Comments
Japanese car maker Nissan launched their concept car with alcohol detection system in mid of 2007.  It uses breathalyzer-like detection systems may provide even greater traction for Japanese efforts to keep impaired drivers off the road.  Nissan's alcohol-detection sensors check odor, sweat and driver awareness, issuing a voice alert from the navigation system and locking up the ignition if necessary.  Odor sensors on the driver and passenger seats read alcohol levels, while a detector in the gear-shift knob measures the perspiration of the driver's palm when starting the car.  But Nissan's car includes a mounted camera that monitors alertness by eye scan, ringing bells and issuing a voice message in Japanese or English if a driver should pull over and rest.

Why the Malaysian media exposing sex as their primary content?

1:44 PM 0 Comments
There are 30 over news papers and tabloids in this country.  However, if you look at their everyday content, most filled with sexual contents.  I have been asked myself several times, why this medias are exposing these contents than any other?  There have been a lot more than this to discuss.  Most Malaysians uses own vehicle to travel.  Though the petrol price is less than one liter mineral water, the parking charges are too high.  Why there is no investigative journalism to find out the source and bring the matter to world to prevent these?  One true fact in this country is, Media cannot write anything against the ruling party / government.  So, the media is criticized here.

Last couple of weeks, "most viewed" content of some major local medias are about sex.  One among the top was the sexual activities of teenagers.  Some times, it will be the matter of some family like wife's/husband's secret affair, or wife revenge on hubby's (ex)girlfriend etc.  But still the question there, why they want to expose these?  Are these becoming the important news for people?  With these contents, these news-papers can only call as tabloids.  Major news papers such as The Star, NST etc are among the top.  Instead of spreading good knowledge to the people, they are injecting bad things.  I don't say sex is bad.  But it should be private to a person and media shouldn't expose it unnecessarily.

You have several things to discuss.  Like I said, the high rate of parking charges, the increasing living cost, the new development by government, unbalancing bus fair by RapidKL etc.  Many people are not even aware about what is going on their country.   Recently, I had searched for some on-going developments in Brickfields.  There is no news about it in any paper, but I found it from some blogs.  If you ask anybody about the new developments in KL, I think most of them don't know.  It is a failure of media agencies.  There are news and news makers, unfortunately most of them are not even visible to others or wrong exposure by medias.

Business : Everything is Business

4:12 PM 0 Comments
I have had a conversation with an elderly couple, recently.  When the subject leads to relationship and family, they told me about their story.  In fact, it might be the present story running most places.  To spend time with their one and only grand son, who is an year old, their grand daughter set up time.  Those specific times, if they wish, can go and spend but not more or less.  It was like a business meet, she instructs her in-laws, to come and meet.  I was in a thought for a while.  Then suddenly another couple said, now in-laws are putting up things like business.  Even some considers their marriage is like a business tie-up.  The fast moving world is now putting up everything as business and the value of family is becoming negligible.  If you think of it, to meet their own grand son setting up time, what is it all about saying?

There have been many kind of business running in this world.  Apart from all of those, what is the fast growing business at present in this world?  There are two answers for this.  One religion and second sex.  If religion business is running as front-line but sex is running as back-line.  Religion is a white hand, low-cost; or can say no capital required, no license required and can make lot of profit.  If you look around the present world, people are running for something.  Some says, they need money, some says they wants to live happily etc.  But ultimately everybody looks for peace.  Whatever you grab, wherever you are, everybody ultimately need peace.  Now, people are running for peace and that is what those fake religious guides getting more advantage.  When you desperately looks for something and some starts talking sweetly, you will listen to them.  There is where these kind of people taking advantage and for these fake preacher's goodness, something will work out.  So, they start getting followers.  This will later becomes a business.  There was a person, who knows little about astrology.  Once on his way to Gujarath, he happened to meet a business man and told his future via astrology.  For this guys luck, whatever he told became true and this businessman brought most of his friends to him.  So, he started new business as astrologer.  The same way the new religious business are growing.  Nobody knows where the money comes and where it going.  But it is a white hand and at the same time black-labeled business.

Now, talking about sex.  It is not as easy as the religious business as I mentioned. It has lot of care needed.  The way to handle, deal etc.  Most underworld and most other kind of business uses sex as their mediator to grab the key deal factors or to ensure their deal is confirmed.  But this flesh business is more often dangerous than other.  Main problem, to get the material and move it to the destination without problem.  To deal with authorities and to run without others notice, this business is most difficult.  But the money flow for this business too large amount.  If women utilizes man's money at her best at the same time, man spend most of his money for woman.  It's very true fact.

I was reading some research on this business.  Couple of years ago a study revealed that most selling business is sex.  "Valentine's Day marks the busy season for companies that make "pleasure products" and other adult merchandise -- a $2 billion industry that's moving out of the shadows and into your local shopping mall."  It's not an absurd.  But it is the true face of current world.  If you look around your nearest busiest shopping mall, you can see how fast this business is running there.  There is another study report revealed that, the most people search for sex through internet is from Muslim countries.  Surprisingly, most of the Muslim countries are very strict about this, especially for public expose.  Unfortunately, those countries are most raising counts to search or spread this.  But that is not always true from the official count.  Because, these business are most runs behind something else.  So, there will be a mask for this.

Another post in the internet shows that, there are plenty of international agencies running this business around the world.  It's a well established network business.  Some govt says, they takes strict action against this.  But unfortunately, it remains as business.  To invest terrorism may be more difficult than these two business.  In fact, these are zero capital business.  You are the capital and everything on it.  You can make a difference.  It can be better or worst.

Frozen heart

5:36 PM 0 Comments
I happened to be an eye witness of an accident followed by its death yesterday, while I was on my way to office.  It was haunting me for long hours.  The victim was not a human being but a small kitten. But it was alerting me all the way until the world cup soccer fever.  But it was following me again, when I was passing through the same place in the morning.  It seems somebody was scratching me again and again.

I was heading to catch my bus to office yesterday night.  At a narrow road, I was feeling somebody following me silently and turned back and found a Lexus SUV was just behind.  Given up my way to it and was heading again.  But some how I just look back my way and found a kitten was fighting with death.  It's head was broken and right eye came out.  One of its front leg too was broken.  It was an heart-breaking scene.  I don't know what should I do on this; I couldn't.  Walkig forward while looking back on that scene, my mind was struggling to find some solution.  At the signal, before crossing the road, happened to look at its situation; it was dead already.  Many was passing that location, throwing a look at that poor kitten.
While heading to the bus station, some questions were raised on my mind.  Because it was a stray cat, nobody was bothered on its last situation.  What if in its place, it was a human being?  I was thinking in that way.  If it was a human being fighting for its life, how many, included me, try to avoid that and try to go ahead for own business?  How many try to find a way to save the life?  What if it was your pet happened to be in that situation?  Would I or you try to avoid by saying, can't help, give up?  There was a lot of questions like this raised on my mind.  Was it due to a confession or something else, made me to think like this?  I don't know; but it was haunting me like anything.

When I was going back to hime, I was searching for its dead body at that location.  But there were no evidence of such accident.  Somebody had moved it already.  Again the questions were raising on me.  How merciful or kindful am I to my fellow human beings?  What is my mentality towards this kind of incidents?  I am still asking and searching for an answer.  The questions are on, but still searching.

Google video chat in Linux - Some dependencies

6:00 AM 0 Comments
Another week of testing with the best Linux IM client "Pidgin".  I could configure the Office communicator, Yahoo, MSN and gtalk.  The best feature I can see in this, all chat windows can be accommodate with tabbed option in a single window.  This is very good feature and this was the one, I was searching for a long time, when Jabber ( I was using Pandion client ) was switched to Office Communicator at my office.  I think, I seen this tabbing option only in Pidgin version 2.7.1 onwards.  Here, I tested 2 versions of Pidgin.

Pidgin 2.6.6
My Ubuntu Lucid kernel is "2.6.32-22-generic". This version of Pidgin comes by default with Ubuntu Lucid.  What I had to do is, install the 3 dependencies.  Install the following with the order it mentioned.

1. libmp3lame0
2. gstreamer0.10-plugins-multiverse
3. gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg
4. pidgin-PPA packages

After these 4 items installed, I had tried to restart the services of pidgin, but was not successful.  So, had to reboot the notebook ( it hardly took a min ). Everything came up perfect.  This is because, pidgin-PPA need a reboot to re-profile.

There were few problem with this version I found.  The first issue was my client hung, when I receive a video call from gtalk user.  My webcam is activating automatically, but it wait for something to push in front as "A call from user, Accept / Deny"?  I seen this window, once I waited for more than 15min.  But there was no use; because the other end user got disconnected.  Gmail chat window won't call for a 15min long wait.  Second issue, when I tried to open a video chat with gmail user, it was disconnected with error "The Conference error".  I don't know what this stuff and couldn't trace it anywhere.  But I realized one thing, when the other party is already in another call, this error come.  But for my situation, the other party was not in the call some times.  Finally, I switched the user to "Super User", root.  Configured and started the pidgin at root user, it perfect.  I can make video calls and end user can see the video as well.  But still the bug of hanging is biting me.  I raised a ticket with pidgin team. If anybody wish to debug and find out the issue, you can check it.

Pidgin 2.7.1

This is more advanced version and it has tabbed messaging function.  You need to install the all four dependencies, as stated above.  Yesterday, I tried the video chat, there was no issue at my side, but other end they couldn't see the video.  Just noticed in "Ubuntu Software Center" found the pidgin-PPA was not configured properly.  Re-installed and configured it.  Now need to test it again to see, how things work.   But still the hung on call from gmail is biting.  I think, some call function is waiting, when it receives a call from other party ( third party from pidgin point of view ).

I will test this version with new PPA and will update soon.

Linux testing with office stuffs

11:13 PM 1 Comments

Another week of testing has completed.  I have found success rate of 95%.  It was a fun-loving work for me.  Installation of Linux was not a rocket science, but make my office application work well, is some what similar to rocket science.  Thanks to Google and Ubuntu communities; helped a lot to do many changes.

One of the major problem I still faces, using the Linux email client with cache mode.  I don't want to waste my disk space using this.  But there is no other client supports non-cache mode with Exchange server; except Microsoft technology.  To over-come this, I had to install Office applications for Linux.  But the response of Microsoft Outlook from Linux is very very slow than from Windows.  I think, Microsoft still hate Linux like anything.  All applications are fast running on this 1GB memory Core Duo system; except Microsoft stuffs.

All my client servers are connecting via SOCKS.  I was worrying how to do this and found the tsocks is very good application to utilize.  Only one issue, every time when I have to establish a connection, I should execute the command "tsocks ssh @".   This is quite annoying.  I tried to install Putty for Linux.  But this doesn't help at all and the biggest trouble with Putty in Linux is, mouse never work on it.  It can only use to select a word, but you cannot paste it anywhere.  I found the annoying "tsocks ssh " in terminal is much much easier than using putty.  Tested VPN connection last week with ActiveKey and worked well.

Now, I am testing some off-work items.  Yes, all the chat clients for Linux.  Empathy and Pidgin works well with gtalk, Yahoo and MSN; but still facing problem with voice chat and video chat.  Empathy I had configured to work with Office Communicator.  It's a superb stuff.  I can use number of chat sessions in one window.  This is the major disadvantage with Office Communicator.  Yahoo voice and video chat is still a stumbling block for me.  Tried to configure Gyachi, but loads of dependencies.  When tried to update Glib, it says GTK needed.  When tried to update GTK, it says ATK needed.  When update ATK, it says CAIRO and Pango needed.  I found CAIRO, but Pango is still hiding somewhere.  The dependencies for Gyachi is going like an endless stuff.  I think, I have to try Kopete; but some forums says it is a bad client.  I can now use voice chat with gtalk only but no video chat with any of the client.  Tried to use meebo video chat, but my HP built-in webcam is showing as disabled.  I don't know why.  I think, it can't pickup proper driver.  May be I have to install it separately only for Meebo.  I need to dig on it.

Overall in 2 weeks testing, I gone a long distance and could achieve most success on all stuffs.  Now the major testing in IM clients are going on, especially for video and voice chat.

For my very few windows stuffs of my official application, installed VirtualBox and configured Windows XP Professional SP3.  A comparison boot of Linux and Windows shown Linux is 50times faster than Windows on booting.  Within seconds booted my Linux, but Windows took minutes to load.  My experiment is still going on and Linux is rocking.

Testing Linux latest releases

7:22 PM 1 Comments
Last one week, I was breaking my head on testing different flavors of Linux.  I opted best desktop version Ubuntu Lucid Lynx and best laptop version Open SUSE 11.2.  My installation set-up was on HP Pavilion tx 2000 Entertainment PC.  It's configuration consists of AMD Athlon X2 64-bit with nVIDIA GeForce graphic controllers, 2GB RAM, 150 GB HDD, Broadcom BCM4312 WLAN card with web-cam and other stuffs like finger print reader etc.

Started testing from Open SUSE.  First installed its KDE version.  This is the best interface I saw and very coolest environment.  First I attracted with the "sysinfo" option on the window, when I clicks.  It reveals the graphical display of my HDD usage, system details and much more.  Another plus I found on it is the LVM part ( I am too keen on it ).  The LVM works well on it and I used only 60GB out of my 150 for all the purpose and kept aside the rest of the space for future use.  This is fantastic option and the command "pvs" and "fdisk -l" returned the unused "disks".  I have a CA certificate key.  To use this, installed pcscd daemon.  This too worked perfect.  Next I wanted to install Virtual Box(VBox). Unfortunately, the VBox part ended up in no-mans land.  Every time, I tried to install, it keep on failing with some dependencies.  Unfortunately I couldn't resolve those dependencies and need to end the experiment.  Also, found the system was rebooting due to over-temperature.  It may be the problem of this touch-pad.

Next, installed Open SUSE 11.2 Gnome version.  Ah .. this is not that much sweet like KDE version.  Found lots of difficulties to find out other tools, which I used in KDE version.  I had to come out of it very fast, without trying anything.

Overall, a less support from netizens  is a biggest minor point for Open SUSE.

Next test was on best desktop version of Linux; Ubuntu 10.4 ( Lucid Lynx).  I had three different flavor of it to test.  Lucid for Netbook, Lucid for Desktop and Lucid for Alternate.  First two, I believe you can imagine for what purpose.  The Alternate uses to upgrade from a lower version, to break-fix an existing system and the only plus point I found here is you can use LVM.  Other two doesn't support LVM.  The LVM structure with this Ubuntu version is worst.  I will explain that later.

Lucid Lynx

The overall look for this version is amazing.  I can say, it might be somewhat what Google was saying about "OS in browser".  Most of the things open like or within a browser.  This version is absolutely fit for Netbooks.  This can be used for the beginners as well; because its ease of use.  Like what I did in Open SUSE, installed "pcscd daemon" for my ActiveIdentity.  Next try was for Virtual Box.  I don't even need to look back for any dependencies.  It installed in such a way, I just need to add my user to the vbox group and to start.  That's it.  Remember, before doing any kind of installation, you need to update  your language pack.  Otherwise, it will fail for sure.  Now my Virtual Box is ready.  Set up Windows XP Professional on this vbox by dedicating 1GB memory to it.  What a performance!! Really like the way Ubuntu does.

Next test was on Lucid Desktop version.  Here, I haven't tried to install Virtual Box.  Because, it worked in Netbook platform, of course it will work all kind of Ubuntu platform.  I concentrated my test to setup WiFi.  I had to manually install the BCM4312 802.11a/b/g driver ( bcm43-fwcutter ).  Restarted my notebook, the wireless came up.  This notebook, when I was using Windows XP and Vista, wireless has always problem.  If it works on one reboot, it won't pick the driver at another reboot; even on a fresh install.  So, this is a big plus point of Linux.

Now, I concentrated on some security stuffs.  I am not so familiar with iptables.  Tried some different options, all failed.  So, turned to another tool called ebox.  Ebox 1.5 works perfect with Lucid Lynx.  Installed it from it's repository.  Added my user to the group ebox and re-logged in.  Started e-box using the browser.  Since, I am using WLAN, configured the wlan0 using the method DHCP.  Enabled the firewall and network rules.  All went fine.  Now, I believe its secured.  But the nightmare was starting.  I left my notebook like that and gone to finish some personal work.  After an hour came back found the WLAN disconnected.  Checked the ifconfig, found some stupid "avahi daemon" taken over my interface and ate the IP.  What the hell is this?  Here is some sample from my eth0 interface

eth0:avahi Link encap:Ethernet  HWaddr 00:1e:68:15:46:a5
          inet addr:169.254.6.127  Bcast:169.254.255.255  Mask:255.255.0.0
          UP BROADCAST MULTICAST  MTU:1500  Metric:1
          Interrupt:20 Base address:0xc000

Correct should be somewhat like this.

wlan0     Link encap:Ethernet  HWaddr 00:1a:73:f3:de:2d
          inet addr:192.168.1.2  Bcast:192.168.1.255  Mask:255.255.255.0
UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST  MTU:1500  Metric:1

I don't know what it is at all.  Checked all options cannot find any clue for it.  Both eth0 and wlan0 interface took over by avahi.  Lost everything.  So, decided to restart the notebook and see, what will happen. Prior to install all these,  I had updated the driver for nVIDIA GeForce, recommended by Ubuntu repository.  This too added another panic.  When restarted, lost the main display at logon window.  Several restart no change; the display disappears at logon.  Plugged into the AC supply and restarted, it came up properly at logon window.  I guess, nVIDIA needs more power to work with that driver.  One advice; never ever update from your default driver.  Ok .. here we goes with ebox.  After logged in, I am totally lost.  Wireless icon is no-longer visible and the diagnostic message all flooded with wlan0 and eth0 ip has ate by something else.  I don't know what it is at all.  So, decided to test with Alternate CD.

Put the Alternate CD and started to repair, it never ended up anywhere.  So, decided to try this Alternate CD, what it looks like.  Here comes the traditional DOS window instead of splash screen.  A series of questions and I could use LVM structure here ( Guided ).  Like what I did in Open SUSE, took 70GB of space for the use and kept aside the remaining for future purpose.  The overall installation took more than an hour.  It was too slow compared to all other versions.  I don't know why it takes too long to install.  When I came back to the desktop after all reboot, it is same like Desktop version.  One plus point, I could use LVM structure here.  But the LVM program in Open SUSE is far better than Ubuntu.  By using commands and GUI, I could never retrieve the remaining space.  I don't know, where it is hiding.  Like what I did in Desktop version, installed wireless drivers, set-up wireless.  This time, I didn't upgrade the display drivers.  Play safe!!

The next hurdle was to install ebox.  Added the repository, installed the latest version for Lucid, set-up the interface.  I haven't restarted my notebook; instead done a re-logging in after adding my user to the group.  If I restarted, I am not sure, whether the avahi daemon takes over my interface or not.  But I captured all configuration files this time, if it taken over, I will change it back.  But one thing, avahi daemon exists by default.   How come it is taking over after I made changes to ebox settings?  I couldn't find an answer yet.

Overall, Lucid is the best ever Linux, I used ( in notebook - desktop setup ).  Liked it very much and the vast support from its own forums and other forums make it splendid.

Tomorrow, I will be testing the Lucid Lynx at my office notebook.  I got a spare notebook ( Intel Core Duo, 1GB RAM ) to test my Linux at office network.  Main purpose to test the VPN connection.  Let's see how it goes.  I will update with my next writing, how it was.  Wait until then.

My experiments

7:33 PM 0 Comments
Let me share some of experiments.  The biggest ever experiment in our life is marriage.  But I am not going tell anything about that now.  Let it be there; that experiment never going to be end till our death.  Some lucky fellows gets only one time to experience it; other unlucky may try more than once.  It's the story of life.  Let it be there.

Yesterday, I had night duty.  This month's last night duty.  I had enjoyed yesterday's night duty very well, since I forgot to bring my head phone.  If it had with me, then I would have been lazy to work after a while.  So, I enjoyed till the last minute yesterday at office.  Eppokalypse ( Our bus driver's nick name - It means always tempered in Malayalam) came late to pick us and by the time reached KL Sentral was around 8:30am.  Went with my friend "Ikka" to Restaurant Vishaalaachi to have 2 "veettu dosai", one vadai and a "teh tarik".  After eating this "heavy" break fast ( for me,it was too light), I lost my sleep that was on the way.

The sleep visited me after 10 am in the morning.  When I woke up in the evening it was around 5:30pm.  It is too hot here, due to the cloudy climate.  Neither rain nor any change in the hot season.  Made a tea and had it; thought let me do cleanup the room.  Since once it a while this happens, "the surprise" may bring the rain and can be cool down.  Started my effort to clean and wash the room.  But it was too waste.  Never rained, but I was raining like anything ( sweating ).  Waters were running from the head to toe.
Then a question raised.  What to eat tonight?  Life itself is an experiment.  So, let me try something new in that.  Since my wife is in town, it is the best time to do my experiment.  Otherwise, others says, my wife is an experiment object for me.  Thus starting my today's experiment.

This was my today's experiment ( in the pic).  How's it ?  Similar to this will be seen in these places.  In Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and Brunei it known as "Maggi Goreng".  Since this too made up of Maggi, can put a name start with Maggi.  Please don't ask me its recipe.  It's my brand secret.  Secret recipe can be sell off only for RM10 ( let me make money in that way, next month I have to go for vacation).  Let me say one thing, it has very good taste.  I'm not praising myself; but it has.  After eating, I felt to make one more same dish; but controlled myself.

Thus my today's experiment was very successful. If it was made by some well-known chef, then it would have been very publicity.  Since it is made by "not at all known" person, no publicity.  Let it die with myself.  ha ha ( joking).
Ah .. it's the time to go to bed.  I have duty tomorrow morning.  Don't look more on it and try to understand the taste.  Don't make me diarrhea.  ha ha .. Good night buddies.

Tension - A modern accessory of life

2:19 PM 0 Comments
"For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also." Luke 12:34

Where are we heading to? Do we ever ask this question to our self ? I believe, most are in the race track of achieving something for their world life, not for eternal life.

Couple of days ago, I had a conversation with one of my good friend. I know her from my studies. Whenever we meet or talk she always says, tension; but the word doesn't imply that meaning, what she express. But that day when I spoke to her, I really felt that meaning what she says. Earlier, when she says "tension", there was a joy in her heart. Now, she lost that and started to eat the real tension life.

This made me to think about our life; what and where we leading? Those good old days, there was no word of tension heard from anybody. Now, look at your surroundings, all are running for something and attracting the tension life. What is the benefit from this? Nothing, just increasing something heavy things, that can't bear, to your life. In other words, loosing your cheerful life for something that can destroy your personal life. And you spread this tension life to others like a virus. You will never know, you are spreading it.

Can we discard this "tension" from our life? Yes, I believe. When we throw out the thought for world, we will be relieved from it naturally. But need practice. Shouldn't make money as the first priority in our life. We need money, only when necessary; but that is not most important in our life. Raise the value of our life and be moral, we can achieve. Love and respect everybody as our self. Live for today, not for tomorrow. You will never know, what will be going to happen tomorrow. Even you can't say you will be in this world. So, why to worry? Live for today with meaningful life. Do good things as much you can.
