Solutions for Mumbai Traffic Jam

Hey, this is somewhat I found the solutions for the creamy Traffic Jam for Mumbai.

Point 1 :- Implement the season ticket system for BEST.

This is just like the system, what they had implemented in the APSRTC's city bus services at Hyderabad. The system works like this.

a. Issue a monthly season ticket for the passengers. It can include a daily pass also with a fixed amount.
b. The different passes should be availble for the buses like, AC, Ltd., Spl, and running to suburbs beyond Mumbai districts.
c. The highest grade can use the same pass to the lowest grade bus, while lowest can't use the same to highest.
d. The daily pass is for a fixed amount and it can be used anywhere within the day, depends on the buses. It should be marked / punched the date of issue and the validity for a day only.
e. The season ticket can be used any city bus from anywhere to anywhere.

The advantage of this system is, people don't want to wait for a bus to their destination and can avoid the rush on the bus and long queues for waiting a bus. If one had a season ticket and want to go from Andheri to Ghatkopar, he don't want to wait for the bus no. 34o. If he sees the first bus 415, going to SEEPZ, can get in from Andheri and get down at Chakala, then can catch another bus going towards Sakinaka, from there, he can catch another bus to Ghatkopar. Because of this system, people can leave their vehicles at home and can avoid the traffic clogs in the roads.

Point 2 :- Re-arrange the traffic flow.

For the peak time, controll the traffic of heavy jamming areas by preventing the entry of taxi's and rickshaws. It's observed that, the taxi's and rickshaw's are creating the big traffic problems in the city.

Point 3:- Follow the rules strictly

The main offensers of the traffic rules are Mumbai's Public Transporters (BEST). For example, if it is a heavy jam on the one lane, the BEST drivers are taking over through another lane. So, the followers, whoever, will come through this lane and makes fully jammed situations. The policemen, never take charge against this. I think, they are considering, it is a public transport system. Because of this offenses, the situation will become worst.

Secondly, the taxi's are stranding near to the stations, makes big problems. Police should not allow taxi's or rickshaws to strand from their lanes.

Point 4 :- Derive new laws for better performance.

This may be little difficult, but practice will make easy. In the city, all the bad habits are developing by the IT companies. They are for the growth of the country and the growth of the bad habits too.

Suppose, if one company is offering it's employees to the free pickup facility, then 50% will use the system and the rest will come by their own vehicles. To come office by own vehicles or by taxi, company will give the extra perks. For this extra perks, people will try to get own vehicles or use taxi's and increases the traffic and make the situation worst.

Here, police and govt. should follow the new rule, which recently applied on Banglore city for the solution of traffic jams. This rule is built in Banglore now only for the schools, but it can apply here for offices. The rule is as follows:-

" If one school having school bus to pick up their students, if any students are coming to the school using their own vehicle, fine them a minimum of Rs. 500/- and warn. If any school doesn't have school bus, govt. are offering state own bus for plying school service for a particular time. This will reduce the traffic and could effective. "

This can be applied here by changing it to the companies, those who are having own buses. If the company needs vehicles other than bus's for their service, it should consider only for special purposes and can reduce the cost, effectively.

The above ideas can be utilize perfectly. If anybody agrees or not, expecting a comment on this.
